Here is some great advice from Ashley to inspire anyone on their weight loss transformation:
Q. What is the most common mistake when trying to lose weight?
Following “trends” and creating unrealistic expectations, or goals, because of this! Especially with the rapid growth of social media, this mistake has become more and more of an issue for patients when trying to lose weight. There is a huge misconception of we THINK weight loss looks like versus the reality of what weight loss ACTUALLY looks like. There is no “diet”, “trend”, or “fad” that fits all!
Q. What is something you have learned at Dr. Rogers Centers about weight loss?
I have learned so much since I started working here! Dr. Rogers is such a well-rounded physician and her knowledge and education is endless. I have learned so much about all the different factors (i.e. hormonal imbalances, exercise, metabolic disorders, GI health, food allergies/intolerances, inflammatory diseases or other medical/health issues) that can affect weight loss, which has really made an impact on my ability to help patients as their Nutritionist.
Q. What is your philosophy about weight loss?
Set realistic goals that will set you up for success long-term. Weight loss is a journey, not a race. Successful weight loss requires lifestyle changes. Of course, there will be bumps in the road and one patient’s experience may be more or less challenging than another patient, but if you shift your focus away from just the number on the scale and “how fast” you are, or are not, losing and instead utilize the knowledge and tools that we can provide to achieve long-term results.
